Product Introduction

Underfloor Heating Extruded XPS Board represents a cutting-edge thermal insulation material, extensively employed in underfloor heating system construction, specifically as the foundational thermal insulation layer. Crafted from top-tier polystyrene resin as its primary constituent, and meticulously formed via a specialized extrusion method, it adopts a seamless and consistent closed-cell honeycomb structure. This unique construction grants it outstanding thermal insulation, heat retention, moisture resistance, and load-bearing capabilities.

Product Advantage

Underfloor heating with XPS (extruded polystyrene) foam board construction offers several advantages, including improved energy efficiency, enhanced comfort, and increased durability. Here are the key benefits:

 1. Energy Efficiency

- Insulation Properties: XPS foam boards have excellent thermal insulation properties, which help in reducing heat loss. This ensures that more of the heat generated by the underfloor heating system is retained within the room, leading to lower energy consumption.

- Even Heat Distribution: Underfloor heating provides uniform heat distribution across the floor surface, which can be more efficient than traditional radiators that concentrate heat in one area.

 2. Comfort

- Consistent Warmth: Underfloor heating systems provide consistent and evenly distributed warmth, eliminating cold spots that are often associated with conventional heating systems.

- Improved Indoor Air Quality: Unlike forced-air systems, underfloor heating does not circulate dust and allergens, which can contribute to better indoor air quality and a healthier living environment.

 3. Space Saving

- No Visible Radiators: Underfloor heating systems are concealed beneath the floor, freeing up wall and floor space that would otherwise be occupied by radiators. This allows for more flexible interior design options.

 4. Enhanced Durability

- Water Resistance: XPS foam boards are highly resistant to moisture, making them ideal for use in areas where dampness could be an issue. This resistance helps in maintaining the integrity of the insulation over time.

- Load Bearing: XPS foam boards are strong and capable of bearing significant loads without compressing. This makes them suitable for use under floors that will experience heavy foot traffic or heavy furniture.

 5. Installation Advantages

- Ease of Installation: XPS foam boards are lightweight and easy to cut and shape, making them convenient to work with during the installation process.

- Compatibility with Various Floor Coverings: XPS boards can be used under a variety of floor coverings, including tiles, laminate, and engineered wood, providing flexibility in flooring choices.

 6. Cost-Effectiveness

- Reduced Heating Costs: The improved energy efficiency and insulation properties of XPS foam boards can lead to significant savings on heating bills over time.

- Long Lifespan: The durability and resistance to moisture and compression of XPS boards mean that they have a long lifespan, reducing the need for frequent replacements and associated costs.

 7. Environmental Benefits

- Reduced Energy Consumption: The enhanced energy efficiency of underfloor heating systems with XPS foam boards contributes to lower energy consumption and reduced carbon footprint.

- Recyclability: XPS foam is often recyclable, making it a more environmentally friendly choice compared to some other insulation materials.

 Summary

Using XPS foam boards in underfloor heating systems provides a range of benefits including energy efficiency, comfort, space-saving, durability, ease of installation, cost-effectiveness, and environmental advantages. These combined benefits make it a popular choice for modern heating solutions.

Product Operate Guide

1. Preparation

   - Site Assessment:

     - Inspect the site to ensure it is suitable for underfloor heating. Check the subfloor for any damage or unevenness.

   - Clean the Subfloor:

     - Clean the subfloor thoroughly to remove any debris, dust, or dirt. A clean surface ensures better adhesion and installation of the XPS foam boards.

2. Install Insulation Layer

   - Lay Down a Moisture Barrier:

     - If necessary, lay a moisture barrier (such as a polyethylene sheet) over the subfloor to protect against dampness.

   - Install XPS Foam Boards:

     - Lay the XPS foam boards directly on the subfloor. Ensure that the boards are tightly butted together to avoid any gaps which could lead to heat loss.

     - Cut the XPS boards to fit the edges and corners of the room using a utility knife or saw.

   - Tape the Joints:

     - Use adhesive tape to seal the joints between the XPS boards to further prevent any movement or gaps.

3. Lay the Heating System

   - Position the Heating Elements:

     - For electric systems: Lay the heating cables or mats over the XPS foam boards according to the manufacturer's instructions.

     - For hydronic systems: Lay the heating pipes in a serpentine or spiral pattern. Secure the pipes to the XPS boards using clips or a fixing system.

   - Spacing:

     - Ensure the heating elements are evenly spaced to provide uniform heat distribution.

4. Install a Secondary Insulation Layer (Optional)

   - Additional Insulation:

     - In some cases, a secondary layer of insulation (such as a thermal insulation panel) may be installed over the heating elements for enhanced efficiency.

5. Install a Reinforcement Layer

   - Reinforcement Mesh:

     - Lay a reinforcement mesh over the heating elements to protect them and provide a stable base for the flooring. This is especially important for hydronic systems.

6. Pour the Screed

   - Mix and Pour Screed:

     - Mix the screed according to the manufacturer's instructions and pour it over the heating elements and reinforcement mesh.

     - Ensure the screed is evenly spread and covers the heating elements completely.

   - Level the Surface:

     - Use a leveling tool to ensure the screed surface is flat and smooth.

7. Curing Time

   - Allow Screed to Cure:

     - Let the screed cure for the recommended time, typically 24-48 hours for quick-drying screeds, but potentially longer for traditional screeds. Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for curing time before proceeding to the next step.

8. Install Flooring

   - Choose Suitable Flooring:

     - Select flooring that is compatible with underfloor heating, such as tile, laminate, or engineered wood.

   - Lay Flooring:

     - Install the flooring according to standard procedures, ensuring it is securely attached and there are no gaps.

9. System Testing

   - Initial Testing:

     - Once the flooring is installed and the screed has fully cured, test the underfloor heating system to ensure it operates correctly.

   - Adjust Thermostat:

     - Adjust the thermostat settings to achieve the desired temperature.

10. Final Inspection

   - Inspect the Installation:

     - Conduct a thorough inspection to ensure all components are correctly installed and functioning.

   - Check for Issues:

     - Look for any potential issues such as uneven heating or areas where the flooring might be lifting.
